About

This is the blog of Graham Wright. I am an author of fiction. Whilst I don’t much like categories, if pressed I would categorise my writing under the general description of literary fiction. My writing is about people and ideas. I aim to write in a style that is relatively easy to understand, but at the same time creative, imaginative and engaging – literary, but not pretentious. I work hard to create plots that will leave readers wanting to know what will happen next, but I’m particularly interested in communicating what my characters are thinking and how they’re feeling, in communicating their emotions and the motivation for their actions, rather than simply describing a series of events.

My first novel, Single Point Perspective, is set in and around the city of Manchester, where I lived and worked for more than fifteen years. My second, called Moojara, is set in and around the world, but mostly centres on Perth, Western Australia. Both are works of dramatic literary fiction – imaginative, serious and thoughtful, but with a sense of humour.
I’m currently living in north Shropshire, where I’m busy working on novel number three.

  1. Love the name of your second book!! Does it have a special meaning or is it a made-up name?

Thanks Milly! It’s an Aboriginal name for the WA Christmas Tree (Nuytsia floribunda) whose roots connect to roots of other trees for nutrients and water. I thought it was a good analogy for the main character, Maya.
